Rhode Island

I finally made it to the smallest state in the US! Aside from the humidity (which made my hair look like Monica Geller in Barbados) there’s not much to complain about.

Newport

The Cru Cafe  is the first stop I made when getting to Newport. It’s perfect for a quick bite to eat when you want something that is fresh and delicious.

Bouchard is an amazing french restaurant and literally everything we ate was delicious. Some of my favorites were the carpaccio and the Homard et St. Jacques Cardinal Gratines.

Empire Tea and Coffee

We stopped here for a quick breakfast one morning and I must say I loved the salmon bagel. If you order the avocado toast they will literally give you a whole avocado and a piece of toast, don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Benjamin’s was the last restaurant I tried in Newport. It serves seafood and bar food but I would say the food here was on the average side. I did enjoy the lobster bisque though.

Block Island

If you are in Newport you can take a ferry to Block Island for a quick day trip. We rented bikes and rode around the island for a few hours. There is a beautiful beach, cliffs, lighthouses and a wide variety of restaurants to choose from. They also have plenty of shops where you can find jewelry and clothing designed by local artists.

We had lunch at The Beachead  and the lobster rolls here are delicious. You can enjoy a view of the water while you have lunch.

Watch Hill

If you know me at all then you know I love Taylor Swift. No trip to Rhode Island is complete without heading up to Watch Hill. It is a quiet, peaceful beach town with cute restaurants and shops and it’s no wonder TS uses it as her getaway home.

Providence

On our way back from Watch Hill we drove through Providence and had dinner at Opa. Opa is a mediterranean restaurant that serves delicious shawarma wraps and hummus. Not a bad way to end my trip.
