Costa Rica: Arenal vs the Beach

So you want to go to Costa Rica but you’re not sure where to start. Which airport should I fly into? Should I go to the coast or spend more time inland? Should I rent a car or take public transfers? Don’t worry I’ve got you covered. San Jose- Day 1 We flew into the San Jose airport. My flight landed at 730 PM and so we decided to spend the night in San Jose. We booked a room at Hotel Grano de Oro. (Use this link to get 10% off your booking.) Interestingly enough it was also the highest recommended restaurant in San Jose. The restaurant had amazing food but was definitely catered to tourists. I am always happier…

Why Bali Should be at the Top of Your Travel List

I’ll blame it on Elizabeth Gilbert. Ever since I read Eat Pray Love I’ve wanted to visit the island of Bali. Apparently I wasn’t the only one. Everywhere I turned I saw beautiful pictures with lush green foliage, swings over magnificent rice terraces and temples that literally depicted the gateway to heaven. The best part of all, its actually quite budget friendly and the most expensive part of your trip will be the flight. Travel Logistics I wanted a flight that had the least amount of layovers but the trade off for that was that I would have an 18 hour stay in Hong Kong. Personally I felt like this was a win because it gave me the chance to…

    New Zealand, South Island

This past November I had the pleasure of traveling through the South Island of New Zealand with one one of my favorite travel bloggers, Nicola of Polkadot Passport.  We went to some of the most photographed locations in the South Island with Wild Kiwi Tours. Our 7-day adventure started in Christchurch and followed a loop around the South Island. Day 1: Lake Tekapo and Mount Cook After landing in Christchurch we headed down towards Mount Cook. Along the way you will see one of the most beautiful lakes and definitely a top Instagram worthy spot, Lake Tekapo. There are several vantage points but I found the one from the top the most stunning. Don’t forget to check out the Church…

Why Cartagena Should be Your Next Getaway

After my Ireland trip I didn’t have anything planned until November. A friend called me up and asked me what my October schedule looked like, she was off the last two weeks of the month. I had five days off in a row at the end of the month. I sent her my scheduled and she responded with, “Lets go somewhere!”  So we started our search for the perfect quick vacation spot. We initially wanted to go somewhere in Europe but five days just didn’t seem long enough. South America was a shorter flight and the weather would be nice and warm in that region. So I pulled up Google flights and put in my travel dates. A map popped…

    Ireland- 9 day Itinerary

Ireland is one of the most beautiful countries I have ever been to. Every corner consists of scenic landscapes, mountain views, ocean shorelines, stone walls and abandoned castles. There are so many breathtaking sights to see that you might be overwhelmed with where to start. I am going to highlight some of the must see destinations for your next trip to Ireland. How to get around Ireland We booked a flight to Dublin and from there rented a car so we could drive up the coast and explore the entire country. You can rent a car directly from the airport or if you are spending a few days in Dublin you will probably get a better rate renting from the…

    Island Adventures in Belize

I’ll be the first to admit that I wish I did some more research when planning this trip. I have a habit of just booking things and then going with the flow when it comes to travel. Most of the time this works out really well. Belize was an amazing trip but I probably could have saved some money if I had done a little planning in advance. Well fear not I’m here to help you and your future travels to this amazing country. Where do I go in Belize? The airport that I flew into is BZE  (Philip Goldson International Airport) in Belize City. The main mistake we made was that we went directly to Ambergris Caye and did…

    Barcelona, Spain

Happy Tuesday everyone! I took a quick trip to Barcelona in May 2017 and it has to be one of my favorite cities in Europe. Why did I love it so much? When you walk through the city there are musicians on every corner. There are artists lining the streets and performers that are singing, dancing or performing acrobats in the main square. The food is delicious and the architecture is just fascinating. Where should I stay in Barcelona? I stayed in Las Ramblas and I really think it was the perfect place to stay. We were able to walk to nearby restaurants and shops. There is also a food market that is very close by with amazing pastries, fresh…

    Rhode Island

I finally made it to the smallest state in the US! Aside from the humidity (which made my hair look like Monica Geller in Barbados) there’s not much to complain about. Newport The Cru Cafe  is the first stop I made when getting to Newport. It’s perfect for a quick bite to eat when you want something that is fresh and delicious.   Bouchard is an amazing french restaurant and literally everything we ate was delicious. Some of my favorites were the carpaccio and the Homard et St. Jacques Cardinal Gratines. Empire Tea and Coffee We stopped here for a quick breakfast one morning and I must say I loved the salmon bagel. If you order the avocado toast they will literally give…

    12 Hours in London

If you’re attempting to fly across the world from the US chances are that you are going to end up with a stop over in a European city. Many times the stop over ends up being a lot longer than you anticipated. Usually I just stay at the airport and grumble about the fact that I’m stuck there with nothing to do but a friend of mine convinced me that even layovers can turn into mini adventures. On my trip to South Africa we had a 12 hour layover in London. I didn’t think we would be able to get much done in 12 hours but I was wrong. My friend had a jam packed itinerary for us and we…

    Portland Oregon Food Guide

Everyone has always told me that I need to check out Portland, Oregon and I finally was able to experience what all the hype was about. My sister and I have been attempting to plan a girls trip for months and we decided to stick to a weekend getaway in the US. Lets start with my favorite category while traveling… Food   Tasty N Adler The menu here offers a mix of classic brunch, Korean fusion and southern favorites. I don’t eat pork so this sometimes limits my choices at places that do not allow substitutions. This restaurant had plenty of pork free options to choose from that were quite delicious. I ordered the Korean Fried Chicken and…
